Classic 50’s: Show 214

Boom Boom, out goes the light! 1950-59 was a transitional time for the blues.  Many blues musicians left the south, and moved into the northern cities of Detroit, Chicago, and St. Louis looking for work.  The folk blues morphed into the sounds of the city;  electrified and sexy.

All in all, the decade was an eventful one. A lot of new ventures began, giving way to a lot of new ideas and inventions.  Disneyland was built, the laser and TV remote were invented, and DNA was discovered.

Musical guest tonight includes: Ray Charles, Big Mama Thornton, Howlin’ Wolf, Little Jr. Blue Flames, BB King, Fats Domino, Ruth Brown, Little Walter, and more…
